Who we are

Birchwood Racquet Club was founded in 1977 by Ed Yablonski with Bill Steege leading the tennis program. Since its inception, Birchwood has been a family-owned and family-run business. In 2005, the Karam family took over Birchwood ownership after being members for many years. Now, Birchwood is managed by Elizabeth Karam with Liz Sherman, Bill’s daughter, as Club Manager.

With newly completed renovations, we are proud to offer a unique combination of educational, fitness, recreational, and competitive tennis and pickleball services. We look forward to continue serving our community.

We are proud to partner with Mackarey & Mackarey Physical Therapy Consultants. Birchwood is home to their Abington office. In addition, we will be working closely with Dr. Paul Mackarey Jr. to develop injury prevention clinics and educational seminars.
